The value of the goods in my house

I was watching the discovery channel the other day and they were talking about different security alarm systems the army are using at their bases around the world. It was quite fascinating to think the money that the government is putting into such things.

Mind you the army does have quite a bit of expensive materials that they wish to keep as safe as possible. It got me thinking the equations of should you be spending money on a security alarm system that is relevant to the value of goods in your house?

If that is the case then I wonder what the rule would be. Would it be security alarm system = value of goods / 100? Even if it was that, I would have to spend some more on my alarm as it only cost me around 50 dollars to begin with.

I am pretty certain that the value of my goods is more than $500! Though I could be wrong math was never my strong point lol!

But the money the government were putting into their security was insane, we are talking billions and billions of dollars. Crazy money but like I say, when you are trying to protect fighter jets etc you need to really invest in your security systems.

Now if only I had a plane, I would fly away from this god forsaken street. Just heard news of another break in 4 doors down from me. Apparently they stole pretty much everything in the house.

I keep advocating the use of having a burglar alarm installed somewhere in the house or at the very least have a burglar light outside your house to off put any would be criminal. So far it has helped me out.

That is a good way to end this post by asking what measures you take to make sure your home is safe. What are you doing to improve your home security? I would love to know, later ladies!

Bad news for my neighbour

I bumped into one of my neighbours the other day. This neighbour unfortunately had a break in around a week or so ago and I managed to get her side of the story as to what happened. It was quite sad in actual fact.

Anyway, it all happened on a Monday, it just happens to be the day that her husband goes to the pub and she does the weekly food shop. A young man (who is now in police custody thankfully) decided that he would break in to the house to get their TV and their video game console.

The reason for the break-in? The young gentleman needed money to pay for drugs, sad so very sad.

Anyway as she was describing the situation I told her that I had this home security slash safety website and I asked her if I could write about her incident here. She said it was fine and was looking forward to being famous lol.

She did mention to me that she took no precautions with her home security, no house alarms, no motion detector lights no nothing.

I told her she needs to get a professional round to do a complete installation of some alarm devices and get the placed secured fast.

It’s hard to feel totally sorry for her as everyone in our neighbour hood knows how bad the crime rate is in our street. We hear about break-ins nearly every second week, that is why I am so clued up with these alarm devices and such, because I fear for the safety of my family.

To my neighbour, if you ever get round to reading this I hope you really do take the steps to improve your home security love, if you don’t you are putting your families safety in jeopardy and you will only have yourself to blame.

My love of my life, the wireless home security alarm system lol!

In the last post I talked about the benefits to having a motion detector light outside your house to keep the criminals away. Well it’s still doing the business for me as I have had no trouble and if you remember I live in a really bad area when it comes to theft and knife crime.

Anyway as someone who takes their safety very seriously, I wanted to talk today about wireless home security alarm systems. If you don’t know what these are then I advise you to check out Cool Home Security’s wireless alarm guide. Once you read that come back here.

Well I have had one of these devices for over 3 years now and I must say it’s the best piece of equipment we have got. Well that’s of course after the TV and the kids Wii (we love the Wii!).

The alarm itself that I have set up covers all my windows and doors and I can actually control it from a panel that I have in my living room.

I have it set up in a way that if there is any break ins to the two doors I have downstairs or the three windows I have upstairs, the alarm will sound immediately.

Sounds good right, well not only that I put my mobile number in it so that if it goes off I get a message sent to my mobile. Sweet babes!

I am thinking of upgrading my wireless alarm however but I need more funds before I spend on this as I am a bit skint after a bit of shopping I did at the weekend lol!

In other news in my life my hubby David got a promotion at work. I say in other news but I am hoping he will give me a little extra allowance from it.

A girl has got to do what girls got to do!

Hello again my lovelies!

I told a few of my girlfriends about this site and mentioned that they sh9ould read my article on the home security signs. They now think I am great because they have created these signs for all over their house for not only their kids to shape up but for their husbands and boyfriends too ha-ha!

I wanted to talk today about other ways to make sure your kids and family is safe and that is certain ways to make your house secure from outsiders such as criminals and thief’s.

One way that I have been combating the would be criminals from entering my house is a simple motion triggered light just outside next to the front door. The premise is simple; if the sensor detects movement a light will go on and shine on whoever or whatever is in my garden at that time.

I have noticed some cases that the light has gone of because of a cat or a hedgehog but that is to be expected. The main purpose for the light is to put off any potential person thinking about breaking into my property.

So far so good, I’ve not had any incidents which are a good thing as I live in a rather bad area when it comes to break ins. Just last week a neighbour had their door bashed in, television and video game consoles stolen.

I don’t need to tell you that it’s quite a bit of money lost for the poor people. I feel sorry for them but a little part of me likes to think that it wouldn’t have ever happened if they had simply put these procedures into place.

There are of course other ways to protect your home other than setting up a motion detector light outside. I will be talking about these with time to come but for now, the kids are screaming and I need a well deserved cup of tea. Later girlfriends!!

Hello Welcome To My Blog!

I am becoming more and more amazed at an article I read not too long ago regarding home security signs. What are these I hear you ask? Well it’s simple; I put up little safety signs all over my house to remind my kids about potential dangers.

Examples of this are in our bathroom I have a sign up saying “wash your hands” and in our kitchen I have a sign up on our medicine cabinet that says “No children allowed”. The unbelievable thing is they are all working!

It saves a hell of a lot of stress of continuously reminding the children what to do and what not to do around the house.

I have always been a fan of home security in general; my husband actually thinks I’m a bit of an alarm junkie as I am constantly checking out sites with the latest wireless alarm reviews. I can’t help it I have always been interested in the safety of myself and my kids.

What better way to do that than securing your home with the latest gear eh? Anyway back to these “home security signs” I have started preaching them to my friends all over the world and a few of them are trying it out too.

One friend in particular doesn’t have any kids but she does have a messy boyfriend. That’s right you guessed it, she has put up a home security sign next to the toilet “Put the seat back down!” She has reported back to me that it is working like a charm!

Well what’s stopping you from starting creating these signs for yourself? They work. One word of advice they can be a bit of an eye sore so be creative in how you design these signs. I just stick to post it notes and other laminated plastics but you can really do some creative things with these home security signs so get started and started living!
